Day 1 passed in a flash – late breakfast and a dash back into London. Laundry, unpacking, tidying and trying to find all the bits and pieces needed for work. Work. Day 2. Getting up was hard – it was cold and gray and wet outside. A new year ahead with another 330 days of grind interspersed with too few days hopefully outside of London. So hard to build up any motivation on Day 2 when everyone should be on holiday. And my family is. In the sun at the beach. Sigh! When you are tired of London you are tired of life, someone said. I think if you are tired of London you have come to your senses and realised there is something more to life than the tube commute and black clothes and spending money trying to have fun. Time to escape its clutches and head somewhere where there is space and clean air and hills higher than 20m.
The welcome to church on Sunday 30th December reminded us there was just one day in which to fulfill all our dreams and desires and wishes for 2007 before 2008 was upon us and we’d have to start all over again. Not exactly cheering. The sermon was good though and was a pointed reminder as to why we were on holiday at all and what there was to look forward to in 2008.
We’ll keep you posted on what 2008 holds for us as I sure God has plenty of surprises and challenges up his sleeves to keep us on his toes.
Now, about that extra stone I seem to have picked up…
